    • ComplexCon, a melting pot of creativity, trends, and influential personalities, recently played host to a legion of talents, including the local photographer known as Cal Xander (@50cal_turf) , who shared his captivating experience at the event. Accompanied by Hervgotti (@successismycologne), 50cal embarked on this journey with the primary motivation of exposing his work, networking with key figures in the sneaker, music, and hip-hop industries, and connecting with emerging creatives from Los Angeles and beyond.

    The essence of ComplexCon, as described by Cal Xander, is a pulsating hub of positivity and freshness. Exclusive releases and collaborations were the order of the day, setting the stage for a sensory overload of the latest trends in brands, music, and emerging artists. The event spanned across two days, from 12-7 pm, offering a plethora of panels, events, and performances that added to the overall immersive experience.

    One of the highlights for Xander was encountering unexpected personalities, such as Black Sam, Nipsey Hussle's brother, and the surprise appearance of Chief Keef. The chance to photograph the Clermont Twins up close, whom 50cal had been following for a while, added a personal touch to the event. The representation of Boston and Massachusetts, with figures like Felix! and Bori Rock, showcased the event's diverse appeal, bringing together talents from all over including the home team.

    For Xander, the trip's pinnacle was the realization of goals set with Herv. The weekend unfolded with organic moments, from random encounters with Xzibit to spending quality time with Madeintyo. Noteworthy was the visit to Last Good Film Labs, owned by Boston native JMP, affirming 50cal’s commitment to quality in film photography.

    Reflecting on the experience, Cal expressed a desire to bring his Canon 70-200mm lens to capture Kid Cudi's set more intimately. However, his persistent approach throughout the weekend allowed him to seize numerous opportunities, such as capturing a candid shot of Kerwin Frost while waiting in line.

    In terms of gear, Xander shared his equipment details, emphasizing his dedication to film photography with a Canon Rebel 2000, Kodak Portra 400, 120, Cinestill 50d, and occasional digital shots on his Canon EosR with a 50mm lens.

    ComplexCon, through Cal Xander lens, emerges as not merely an event but a dynamic space where passion, creativity, and opportunity converge, making it a must-attend for those seeking to immerse themselves in the pulse of contemporary culture.

    • Night life in Greater Boston is really turning up. Wether it’s concerts with local acts or bigger shows with well known headliners the music scene in and around the area seems to be thriving. One of the biggest contributors to the new standard that is being place on Boston night life, The Grand, hosted one of hiphop’s biggest current pop stars, TRAVIS SCOTT. I don’t know about y’all, but we are excited to see this! Feels like Boston is attracting more and more celebrities. And with the addition of new condos and buildings going up, really feels like Boston has some tricks up the sleeve when it comes to the social scene. Just drive through downtown and you can feel the vibe switch from just a few years ago. With this new vibe comes venues like Big Night Live and The Grand. We have yet to check out BNL but are definitely looking forward to it in the future. Unfortunately we didn’t get to make it out to the Cactus Jack show the other day but got some flicks courtesy @maxvisuals_ There were mix reviews about the actual event, but just the fact that it took place shows we are in the right direction. Keep it up Boston! ❤️‍? ?

    • Handsamsos is a well known promoter here in the area and the public was itching to get to one of his shows since outside has opened back up. Providence was the location and Mezzo was the destination and the main act was Canarsie’s own DUSTY LOCANE. He and the members came through ROLLIN’ and everyone loved it. We weren’t too sure what to expect from Brooklyn rapper but knew the event would be turnt. DUSTY has a way with the ladies and the audience at attendance would be a good testament to that statement. Mezzo started to fill up pretty early with guest from all over Rhode Island and Massachusetts. Harbor Point’s Pistol Bandz and Konnect Kellz were in the spot and North Cambridge’s FassCoupe opened up for DUSTY (technically he performed after but w.e lol). After a performance like the one DUST LOCANE put on, we are pretty sure we’ll be doubling back to see him again at Jewel Nightclub on the 15th. If you missed this one you should definitely make sure you make it to the show on Thursday. Your boy got a dope vibe! Its only natural to think about the late great Pop Smoke when you hear DUSTY’s music but after seeing him live you can really tell what your hearing is him.     • The third annual Blaire B*tch Project took over City Hall Plaza this Halloween, continuing its mission “to spotlight high-profile independent female artists who embody unapologetic Black feminine energy.” Founded by local organizer and artist manager Sadiq Ervin, the event marked a major step up from previous years, moving from the historic roller-skating rink Chez-Vous to the heart of downtown Boston. Ervin, who manages Boston artist KEI, said his vision has always been to create an outlet for women in hip-hop to showcase their talent and command the stage. This year’s lineup reflected that mission, featuring a mix of Boston and New York talent. The show opened with Oompa, who not only performed but also hosted the evening, hyping up the crowd between sets. Following Oompa was Boston rapper Chelley Marie, who performed three songs to strong audience reactions. “Shout out to Blair Project! We are at City Hall wit it, Anycia is about to pop out and rock out,” Marie told the crowd before her set. The event wasn’t without challenges. The scheduled headliner, rising Atlanta rapper Anycia, failed to appear, reportedly missing her flight. This marked the second time the artist canceled a Boston-area performance, leaving many fans disappointed. Still, the show went on. New York-based rock group Mareko and the Slores brought high energy to the stage with a mix of electric guitars, drums, and powerful vocals. “We’re half from New York and half New Jersey — somewhere in the middle — and we’re on all streaming platforms,” Mareko told the audience. The night’s momentum carried into the final performance by KEI, the Boston Music Awards 2025 nominee known for her unique hip-hop and rock fusion. Having performed alongside names like Rico Nasty and IDK, KEI’s high-energy set capped off the evening perfectly as fans danced in their Halloween costumes under the city lights. Despite the setbacks, organizers and attendees agreed the night was a success. Local production team Enjoy the Thrill, who assisted in producing the show, worked behind the scenes to overcome logistical hurdles and keep the event running smoothly. In its third year, The Blaire B*tch Project continues to grow in reach and reputation. With its focus on empowerment, authenticity, and community, the event has cemented itself as one of Boston’s most important platforms for independent women artists in hip-hop.     • Summer ‘25 may be winding down, but the city hasn’t stopped buzzing. From powerful panels to live shows and vibrant festivals, Boston’s cultural calendar has been packed with diversity, energy, and community spirit. Here’s a recap of some of the most notable events from the past few weeks: Disrupt the Narrative On August 21st, the Museum of Science hosted a unique installment of the Disrupt the Narrative series—an ongoing conversation on art and culture. Curated by Catherine Nakato and the mYouSeeEm team, the evening featured an intimate dialogue between Nakato and acclaimed actor/singer Rotimi. Together, they unpacked art, culture, and the importance of carving space for authentic, unapologetic storytelling. Prison Reform Panel That same week, Roxbury Community College became the stage for a powerful conversation on criminal justice reform. Organized by mayoral candidate Josh Kraft, the panel included Robert Kraft (New England Patriots owner) and rap star Meek Mill, who highlighted the work of the REFORM Alliance—a coalition co-founded by Robert Kraft, Meek Mill, JAY-Z, and others pushing for systemic change in America’s prison system. Boston’s own Smoke Bulga (MMG) was also in attendance, standing alongside Meek Mill and showing love for both community and politics. Just weeks earlier, Bulga was spotted at a Roxbury brunch campaigning with Josh Kraft—proof of how hip-hop and civic engagement are increasingly intersecting. Hunxho at Big Night Live On August 24th, Big Night Live was packed wall-to-wall for a highly anticipated concert headlined by Hunxho with Jay Critch. Fans lined up around the block to see Hunxho, a Billboard-charting North Carolina rapper who, despite his low-key persona, commands a loyal following. Jay Critch brought his Brooklyn energy to the stage, hyping up the Boston crowd. The show, produced by Platinum Ent, Cedar Tree Ent, and Vasjan, also spotlighted rising talent with openers like C4, Dee G A Money, Lyrriic, Grimey Gurt, Kam’ Geez, and more. Definitely one of the standout concerts of the summer. Carnival Of course, no Boston summer is complete without Carnival—the annual celebration of Caribbean culture, music, and unity. This year, the vibes were unmatched: vibrant colors, pulsating rhythms, and a spirit of togetherness that carried from J’Ouvert at 5 a.m. into the main festivities outside Grove Hall to Franklin Park. The Haitian floats stood out this year, adding flavor and pride to an already electric atmosphere. Minimal violence, maximum joy—it was everything Carnival is meant to be. Everybody Gotta Eat Over in Cambridge, Everybody Gotta Eat returned with its 6th annual cookout. What began as a friendly competition among friends over who could cook the best has grown into a beloved community tradition. This year’s cookout delivered not only incredible food but also local vendors showcasing small businesses, making the event as much about community support as it is about good vibes and great bites. Breezy Bowl XX Closing out the month was one of the biggest events of the summer: Breezy Bowl XX at Fenway Park. Thousands of fans poured into the iconic stadium to see R&B superstar Chris Brown headline alongside Bryson Tiller and Summer Walker. The tour is a celebration of 20 years of Chris Brown. With Fenway as the backdrop, the night was nothing short of legendary—proving Boston can throw down with the best when it comes to star-studded live music. Final Word From panel discussions that challenge perspectives to concerts and festivals that unite the city, Boston has been alive with culture all summer long.     • Black people in Boston have been a trending topic on social media lately — and Summer ’25 is out to prove just how ethnic and cultural the city really is. Festivities have been popping up all over, and they’re giving nothing but CULTURE. Sure, Boston is known for its championship sports teams and prestigious universities, but this summer has been a loud reminder: the city has serious cultural flavor. Mayor Wu’s Summer Dance Party Series We kicked off our mid-summer wrap-up with Mayor Michelle Wu’s Summer Dance Party Series on July 25th at Government Center, presented by the DJs of SILK. The night was filled with smooth R&B tracks, good vibes, and a crowd ready to groove.   The best part? It was free to the public, with food provided by the new Jamaican restaurant Blue Mountain. Love to see Mayor Wu showing support for live events and cultural happenings in the city. The second of the Summer Dance Party Series took place this past weekend on Aug 9th with an Island vibes theme. Local Afrobeats artist Odio and official Islndz Sounds artist Maura Delgado both performed. Boston While Black Family Reunion The very next day (July 26th), a few different events were going on in the city. The 5th Annual Boston While Black Family Reunion took over Lawn on D — and for the first time, expanded deeper into the Seaport District. Founder & CEO Sheena Collier continues to provide a safe, celebratory space for people of color to gather, connect, and enjoy Boston. Food trucks and vendors held it down — including @everybodygotta_eat, @bostoncookiekitchen, @suyajoint, and @bibimboxtruck, just to name a few. The event was headlined by Roxbury native & Spelman grad Nay Speaks, delivering a standout performance. Major props to Sheena and her team for creating such a powerful community moment. Black Market’s Summer of X Block Party That same day, Nubian Square came alive with Black Market’s 5th Annual Summer of X Block Party. The lineup? Local acts Most High Kingdom (Najee Janey, Milkshaw Benedict, Sean Wire), DJ sets by Dee J Dex and Kool DJ Red Alert, and a headlining performance from Doug E. Fresh, Slick Rick, and the Get Fresh Crew. It was amazing to see two unapologetically Black events happening at the same time in Boston — both pulling huge, energized crowds. Kerm’s Day Just a few miles away, also on July 26th, the guys from the Kerm’s Shop put together their 5th annual Kerm’s Day in Randolph, MA. The event took place at Randolph Middle School after a quick venue switch. Nonetheless, supporters, vendors and spectators from all over came to commune and be festive. The aim of the event is to celebrate life and to bring a safe place for families and friends to enjoy community. Bentopia: The Day Party of the Summer Fast forward to Sunday, August 3rd — the highly anticipated Bentopia went down at The Yard in Charlestown’s Hood Park. With a massive 2,000-person capacity, this was dubbed the biggest day party of the summer. Music was on lock with DJ Storm, DJ PapaDon, DJ TGIF, and of course DJ Real P. Boston’s movers and shakers came out dressed to impress — the vibes? Very vibey. Very cool. Very Black Boston.   Major Concerts Lighting Up the City Boston has also been getting spoiled with big-name shows this summer:

      Crew Love Boston’s Annual Basketball Tournament On August 9th, Crew Love Boston hosted their annual basketball tournament at Harambee Park. The matchups were Mattapan vs Hyde Park and Roxbury vs Dorchester — battling it out for bragging rights and the official Crew Love Trophy. Each team was sponsored by Jaylen Brown’s 741 Performance, which was a huge look for the players and the community. Hyde Park Day & Spark the Block The very next day (August 10th), the city kept the momentum going:
    • Hyde Park Day at Cleary Square brought together local vendors, residents, and community leaders for a neighborhood celebration.
     
    • Meanwhile, Spark FM hosted their Spark the Block party — complete with food, drinks, vendors, live music, DJs, and performances. Big love to Ms. Hotsauce and her team for putting on another community gem.
      Boston’s Cultural Meter Is Rising From day parties to block parties, family reunions to live concerts, Boston’s mid-summer scene is proving that this city’s cultural pulse is stronger than ever. It’s a blessing to witness.     • Summer 25 starts off with a bang and it definitely brought the heat with it. With temperatures nearly hitting 100 degrees and the star power that came in the area, summer in MA started off hot.

    The line up started on June 20th in Providence, RI where Vasjan and DJ Jukkes consistently throws great vibes with a celebrity walk throughs. This time around it was NARDO WICK at LoveraVIP and the place was on tilt! After popping a couple of bottles and vibing, NARDO WICK graced the stage by performing a couple of tracks and turnt the place up even more. Shout out to everyone who came out and turned up. Salute to the opening acts too, some of them were really dope! Some of the openers included MIA SNOW, LIL EASTON, S-KO and more. Definitely a good night.

    That same weekend NATALIE NUNN and the BADDIES came out to play at the Grand Boston! That event was also associated with Vajan but this time in partnership with Platinum Entertainment Group and Afrique Events. NATALIE NUNN had the Boston baddies going up with her Zeus Network ladies. Lemuel Plummer, the owner of Zeus Network was in the spot too and performed a couple of tracks with NATALIE. We were able to catch up with NATALIE at the let out and she introduced us to baddies LO LONDAN and RELLA G. Check out the video on our ‘SHOWS’ tab.

    On June 25th, SHAWNY BINLADIN was suppose to pull up to Sonia in Cambridge for an all ages event put together by SO TALENTED but the show was unfortunately cancelled. Big bummer because we’re pretty excited to see a whole lotta wickery. All good though because SO TALENTED made up for it a few days ago later with a show Friday night at the Middle East Nightclub. He had Chiraq’s young star CHUCKYY come out for what seemed to be a sold out show! We weren’t able to make it but it looked like a great time.

    Another notable event that took place last week into the weekend was BAMSfest. BAMSfest is becoming a staple in the Boston community where people come to commune, network and be festive. It was a six day event with many performers including LALAH HATHAWAY, EDO G and LITTLE BROTHER. It’s nice to see the crew at BAMSfest going strong, this is their 3rd year at it and have been bringing the feel good communal vibe to city.

    Honorable mention goes out to the big day party in Providence known as DAY TRILL which took place the weekend of June 28th and Vas’ second annual Waikiki Boat Cruise which took place on the same day. It’s only the first week of July and the city is hot. It’ll only get more heated with these upcoming shows; G HERBRO at Centro Nightclub on 7.12, RUSS Into the W!ld Tour at Xfinity Center on 7.18, CASH COBAIN, BAY SWAG & LOUGOTCASH at the Palladium on 7.19, CLIPSE Let God Sort em Out Tour at Roadrunner Boston on 8.3 and many more!     • Saturday May 10th was a good day on many different levels. The C’s smacked the Nicks by 20 in New York, keeping us in the series but the main event was a highly anticipated show that the whole city came out to support. That event was the MILLYZ AND FRIENDS concert at MGM Music Hall. MIILYZ has been carrying the torch for Massachusetts rap for some time now. With his proclaimed High Level rap, MIILYZ has been seeing national success attaining a spot on Apple Music Hip-hop/ Rap Albums chart. Outside of the numbers though, MILLYZ has been going crazy on platforms like Funk Flex and more recently Justin Credbile with freestyles that don't cease to impress. Its dope to see an artist from Cambridge doing what he’s doing to the game and it seems like he really wants to give back to the town.  MILLYZ AND FRIENDS was a LiveNation show at a pretty large venue. He and his team managed to sell it out, which is a great look, he definitely has  the support of the city. MILLYZ got the show going performing a few of his hits, then he showed support from some industry friends. Opening acts included local rapper MAI WAVE and not so local any more MMG’s SMOKE BULGA. The first guest act to hit the stage was SKRILLA. SKRILLA has a huge underground fan base and the audience was amped to see him perform. Next up was DIANY DIOR and BAY SWAG. DIANY and MILLYZ performed their new track on Blanco 7 ‘My Lil Shh’. Then BAY SWAG, the Slizzy gang representative hit the stage performing some of his hottest hits. MILLYZ has been living in New York for some time now, so it does make sense for him to bring out some of NYC’s hottest underground artists.  BENNY THE BUTCHER popped out to do a set. The founding member of the Griselda collective came ready to kill the stage. Both BENNY and MILLYZ have a few tracks together so it was not too surprising to see the Buffalo native pop out. New Jersey reprehensive, ALBEE AL was on the sense. ALBEE has a fire track with MILLYZ and LEAF WARD that has been steadily racking up millions of views on YouTube. ALLBEE also performed a set satisfying all those who are a fan of gritty street lyrics. One of the biggest surprises of the night was seeing fellow Massachusetts rapper, BIA come out and perform. The lady super star has been making ways in the industry for some time now and its dope to see her come back home and support MILLYZ. Them two have been the front runners and the blueprint for success in the industry coming out of MASS. Of course JADAKISS popped out to perform and to support his prodigy. MILLYZ has talent for sure and had been putting in work for some time now, but some may argue that his success comes from working with JADA. JADAKISS has been in the game since days of rapping with NOTORIOUS B.I.G and known to be in the top 5 rappers dead or alive. He is a pioneer in the rap game and proven to be a great mentor with MILLYZ’ success. It has been dope to see MILLYZ career grow from performing at small venues like the Middle East to selling out the formidable MGM Music Hall. And it feels like its still just the beginning for the kid. Many people are just getting wind of MILLYZ’ music and with him exploring with applying melodies and vocals in his songs, there’s no telling where his success may take him.     • What’s up, everyone! It feels great to be back blogging again. We had to take a brief hiatus due to some technical difficulties, but we’re back and ready to bring you the latest scoop on what’s happening around the state. A lot went down while we were away, but we’re here to cover some of the recent events and activations, in no particular order, as well as a few shows we’re excited about. Let’s start with this past weekend, which featured some unique events that really shined a spotlight on the city. On Friday night, Celtics superstar Jaylen Brown premiered his 741 Performance shoe at the Museum of Science. The event was a release party for the “Black Moon” sneaker and an unveiling of the new “White Noise” colorway. The event brought out the city’s tastemakers and featured several celebrity appearances. Gillie and Wallo were in the building to get the inside scoop, as well as Karen Civil and IDIM podcaster Wayno. The Museum of Science was packed with Boston’s streetwear and sports culture elite. GotSole founder and CEO Jonathan DiModica was there, along with Super Gl0rious owner and curator Jonathan D. Epstein. DJ phenoms the Super Smash Brothers kept the vibes flowing as the official DJs of the event. Guests mingled and vibed before attending a panel featuring young journalist Jazzy from @jazzysworldtv, Bill Nye the Science Guy, and Jaylen Brown. The discussion centered around the future of performance, among other topics, before transitioning to a dazzling presentation at the breathtaking Omni Theater. The release carried on into the next day with the first in-store release of the “Black Moon” at CNCPTs on Newbury St. Fans camped out since the night before to get their hands on the sneakers. JB showed love to his fans, making the experience extra special for everyone who purchased a pair. Later that same Saturday, something truly unprecedented was happening just down the street. @redbullsnow hosted an epic snowboarding competition in the middle of Government Center. The spectacle, dubbed #REDBULLHEAVYMETAL, drew over 10,000 spectators eager to see the daredevil stunts of the competitors. The event definitely brought the rock ‘n’ roll energy to the city, and the vibe was electric, thanks to the smooth DJ sets by none other than the Smash Brothers! It was dope seeing them rocking it in such a major way. As Black History Month comes to a close, there’s still time to celebrate. This Friday, February 28, the Black Brilliance Gala will be held at Hibernian Hall from 8 PM to 11 PM. You can grab your tickets here: Black Brilliance Gala Tickets. If a less formal vibe is more your style, check out Fete: Fridays for a great place to hang out, enjoy some drinks, and grab amazing food. Looking ahead to March, there are four shows we’re especially excited about. First, @sotalented is back in the area, bringing SKRILLA live to the Middle East Downstairs in Cambridge on March 7th. The very next day, on March 8th, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie will be performing at the Strand in Providence, RI. On March 12th, The Sneaky Linq, presented by Junq, will take over the Moxy Rooftop Bar, with local Boston talent Maye Star set to perform. Lastly, we have J.I. The Prince performing at Kulture in Providence, RI, brought to you by Vasjan and DJ Juukes. This show is definitely going to be a vibe! That’s all for now, ladies and gents!     • Boston isn’t a city known for its urban entertainment. We’ve been know to be a title town or university city among other things. But when it comes to night life and the music scene, Boston is a place that rarely comes up in conversation. The tides appear to be changing around here though. Artists like BIA, FELIX! and MILLYZ are making industry moves, and the fact that Boston is a stop on almost every major tour are testaments to Boston’s impact in the entertainment sector outside of sports. The casino Encore, restaurants and various clubs throughout the city have proven to provide great entertainment as they are frequent by Celtics players and celebrities from different domains of entertainment. It really feels like there has been a collective push to focus on adult recreation and entertainment here in Boston.

    Among all the new things to do in Boston are festivals. Since mayor Wu took office here in Boston in 2021, there has been a push to focus on Boston’s neighborhoods. Grants and allocation funds were given out to help facilitate some of the cities most anticipated festivals. BAMS Fest was one of those highly anticipated events. This is the second year the festival is being held and this year the event appeared to have grown in attendance and participation.

    The event was headlined by BJ THE CHICAGO KID and underground legend RASPODY and had a catalog of local acts as performers.

    One of those supporting acts was Boston rapper NAY SPEAKS. NAY boasts in one of the commercials for BAMS Fest describing her life as a “beautiful resistance” because she choses to “resist through art”. She goes on to explain that the community aspect of the festival is what she likes most about BAMS Fest. Speaking of community, NAY brought up two local Boston acts to perform with her during her set. Those two artists were South End representative AVENUE and “Boston’s Baby” Slicc Bae. Less than two weeks later, another festival graced the streets of Boston. This too was at Franklin Field and it was a celebration of LBGQ Pride in the black community. The event was managed by local artist SAAFYR who performed and was also in charge of talent management. The event was hosted by Amanda Shay who is a spoken word artist, an educator and a self proclaimed “artivist”. The performance line up featured a list of local acts and was headlined by SAUCY SANTANA. It’s awesome to have so much going on this summer here in Boston. Entertainment and recreation seems to be running abundantly in the city has given its residents a diverse array of things to do. It’s nice to see the push for activities within the neighborhoods of Boston.     • Summer has just started, and the city is more than ready for the heat. Last Monday, the Celtics defeated the Dallas Mavericks in Game Five of the NBA Finals. It was a gentleman’s sweep and felt extra special because they closed out the series at home. The celebration in the city began then and peaked on Friday, when more than a million people came out for the victory parade. Fans from all over Massachusetts gathered to catch a glimpse of the Celtics squad and celebrate the national victory. Swarms of people dressed in green flooded the streets for miles as the famous Duck Boats carried the national champions. Despite the massive crowd, everyone got along amicably, and there was a strong feeling of unity and pride in being a Celtics fan and part of such a wonderful city. Winning their 18th NBA Finals banner, the Boston Celtics now hold the most championships in the league. This victory was particularly special as the last championship was back in 2008, with the legendary lineup of Rajon Rondo, Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen, and Kendrick Perkins. Fast forward to 2024, the Celtics were dubbed the best team in the NBA long before becoming the season’s champions. It was thrilling to see Jayson Tatum hoist the Larry O’Brien Championship Trophy on the float, accompanied by Finals MVP Jaylen Brown, veteran Al Horford, Jrue Holiday (celebrating his second ring, the first with the Milwaukee Bucks), and Derrick White, who even got his tooth fixed before the parade. The rest of the squad was there too, along with some familiar faces from the city. Amid the Celtics’ celebrations, this past weekend saw several notable shows and events. A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie performed at TD Garden the day before the parade, drawing a crowd of 20,000 people. This was a significant step up from his previous college shows. The show lineup also included NLE Choppa who has a steady fan base and has been appealing to young ladies. Mid-performance, A Boogie brought out local favorite Millyz, which was a great look for him, as it may have been the biggest crowd he’s ever performed in front of. On Saturday, JOYNER FEST took place in Worcester at the Palladium outdoors. The lineup included Rotimi, Millyz, Conway the Machine, and more. Despite some rain, fans still turned up and had a good time. It's great to see Joyner get love in his home city. Although Rotimi felt a bit random as an act, it makes sense that he was present, he and Joyner worked on a music video performance together. As a whole, the festival successfully created a space to enjoy the gritty sound and witty lines of the performers. History was also made that day, as council woman Julia Mejia declared June 22nd Joyner Lucas day. Making it the first time a hip-hop artist received this honor. On the same Saturday, another big party, Day Trill, was happening in Providence, RI. Known as ‘the world’s best-kept secret,’ the event featured sounds provided by Dana Lu from NYC, Towfu from Boston, Where’s Nasty from Providence, and Silent Matic. People from Providence and Boston came out to enjoy the party. Like Joyner Fest, this event was also outdoors and hosted a crowd of about 400-500 people. The lineup of DJs created a fantastic vibe, with hits playing all night. The first official day of summer, June 20th, came in hot, promising a busy and exciting season. We’ve seen the inception of numerous artists from all over the nation that cater to bold and ambitious young women. This article is about two artists that came to our region to bless their audiences with some of their girl magic.

    Monday April 8th, the city of Boston was graced with the presence of the one and only NICKI MINAJ. The juggernaut of an MC was in the city for her PINK FRIDAY 2 WORLD TOUR which was a two night affair at TD Garden. People flocked from all over New England to come see the mega star perform. But NICKI wasn’t the only star in orbit this week, the rising RNB sinsation MARIAH THE SCIENTISTS also performed in Providence at the Strand. Both acts are a testament to the woman stardom within the industry.MARIAH THE SCIENTIST was on tour for her third studio album, “To Be Eaten Alive”. The 26 year old RNB artist comes from Atlanta, Georgia and was signed to TORY LANEZ’s label One Umbrella and RCA Records. MARIAH has been making some noise since her debut album “Master” and has been consistently growing her audiences since her inception into the industry. Her smooth and laid back vocals are reminiscent of Jhené Aiko and her style of music. We are excited to see how MARIAH’s artistry will develop and the impact it will have on the RNB scene.

    NICKI MINAJ had some tricks up her sleeve for her audiences in Boston. NICKI brought out Massachusetts’ own BIA on stage with her to perform the song that BIA credited for changing her life. The two performed ‘A WHOLE LOT OF MONEY’ a track that is more like an anthem for young women who aspire to be successful and live a posh lifestyle. Both NICKI MINAJ and MARIAH THE SCIENTIST are testaments to the tone of the music industry. One that recognizes women in the market and is represented by artists that can relate and be their voice. With new artists such as TINK, SEXYY RED, MULATTO, GloRilla, CITY GIRLS, MEGAN THEE STALLION and ICE SPICE to name a few, the future is looking bright for women in Hiphop and RNB.     • Drill music took the hiphop scene by storm in 2019 and has remained relevant since. The loss of POP SMOKE seemed to have put a damper on the movement but certain Brooklyn rappers have been proudly carrying the torch. FIVIO FOREIGN is seen on appearances with Ye and Massachusetts’ own, MILLYZ, along dropping two studio albums in the last two years. But this article is about the boys of the Winner’s Circle. While SHEFF G is currently incarcerated, SLEEPY HALLOW is at the helm of the ship. SLEEPY, along side ELI FROSS and JAY-BEZZY, hit Worcester, MA for the third show of their Boy Meets World Tour. The Palladium was packed with eager fans ready to party and enjoy a good show. Concert Crave, the organizers of the event, normally do a fantastic job creating a fun atmosphere for live music and dynamic performances. Boston’s own ONE SHOT ACE was in the building and set the stage on fire for his set. Makes sense for him to be present at the show, he has a fire track with SHEFF G called “MR.FIRE”. It’s dope to see him still working with the Winner’s Circle team. It’s said that ONE SHOT ACE has a track with SLEEPY HALLOW coming out soon called “BET ON MYSELF”.

    ACE’s performance set at the show was spun by local DJ, KITZ. JAMN’ 945’s DJ known for hosting the LAUNCH PAD and being an active contributor to the Boston music scene, DJ E DUBBLE, was also present.

    SLEEPY HALLOW has a laid back and aggressive sound that many seem to identify with and gravitate to. He performed songs from his early project DON’T SLEEP and jumped through his whole discography throughout the night. The crowd loved it. A few people passed out but security was sure to be swift to attend to anyone in need. The place was truly packed and it created an exciting and fun atmosphere to enjoy the show. No pyrotechnics were present for this event, but it was a light show! SLEEPY HALLOW and ELI FROSS delivered an energetic performance and kept the people engaged as the audience recited damn near every lyric with the rappers. SLEEPY ended up diving in the crowd which is always fun to see.

    It’s great to see the Winner’s Circle continuing to thrive despite some of the hardships some of the members are facing legally. We send SHEFF G our love and hope well for him as he fights his charges. Same goes for SLEEPY who had been said to have had some run ins with the law recently. Too much talent to be spending time behind bars! Hope the rest of the BOY MEETS WORLD TOUR goes well and the Winner’s Circle continue to succeed!
